After a warmer than normal March the weather pattern will shift back to a cooler pattern at the beginning of April.  An upper level trough over eastern North America will produce northwesterly flow for much of the first two weeks of April.  The northwesterly flow will bring cooler air from Canada.  As weather systems move from west to east across the U.S., we will get some warm days, but on average the temperature will be slightly cooler than normal for April.  Northwesterly flow tends to bring drier air.  Several storms systems will bring significant rain during the month, but the precipitation is likely to be slightly below normal for April.

More than 70 individuals from the sports field management community gathered at Huntington Park on Wednesday, March 23rd. Most of the day was spent on the ball field getting information about laser grading, conditioners and more.

Check some pictures from the event!

Take-home ideas were given and soaked up by sports field managers of all levels from the professionals to parks and recreation.

During the afternoon sessions, attendees learned about some of the practices taking place at PNC Park from new head grounds manager, Matt Brown. Matt also shared some of his experiences from his time with the New York Mets and during the panel discussion, he elaborated on his experience with the World Cricket Championships.

Speaking of the panel discussion, attendees were able to share ideas and ask questions about some of the issues they have faced and anticipate facing this season.

As always at industry events such as Field Day, networking was a key ingredient of the day! No matter what level, type of field or part of the state you're from...there's always common ground and something to learn from one another! We were thrilled to see attendees taking the time to chat with one another!
