We are currently seeking qualified interns for the upcoming season.
Internships can start as early as March and run into November!
Interns will be scheduled to work at both venues throughout the internship and will be given, but not limited to, 40 to 60 hrs per week.
Seasonal Interns are expected to be in good physical shape to withstand long hours. All seasonal staff must be able to lift at least 60 lbs.
Interns will have the unique opportunity to learn different aspects of managing and maintaining, not only a detailed professional stadium, but also a well maintained recreational sports complex. Thus experiencing two internships in one.

The Toledo Area sports Turf Internship Program has been developed to ensure any intern will have a memorable and educational experience. The program is designed to cater to each individual needs and will work closely with both management staffs to accomplish their goals.
The Toledo Mud Hens at 5/3 Field and Sylvania Recreation at Pacesetter Park have joined hands with the objective of offering the most qualified internship program offered today .
Sylvania Recreation Corporation (SRC) facilities and maintenance department is responsible for maintaining many facilities used by SRC throughout the city of Sylvania. Sylvania is a suburb of Toledo and located only 20 min away from 5/3 Field
Pacesetter Park is one of the facilities under the care of SRC and is the jewel of the park system. The facility has 8 lighted baseball/softball fields and 98 acres of premium sports turf that houses soccer, lacrosse, flag football and rugby. The total facility sits on 135 acres.
SRC and Pacesetter Park serves the community of Sylvania providing a place to participate in all outdoor activates. Along with serving the community Pacesetter Park will host numerous sporting events through out the year.
Interns will learn how to manage a multi use facility. Will work closely with management staff and be expected to interact and attend all weekly Management meetings.
Interns will have the opportunity to train on and operate a vast fleet of equipment. Will learn strategies and cultural practices for proper turf maintenance on native soils. Have the opportunity to work on various construction projects done each year to improve certain aspects of the facilities.
The Toledo Mud Hens are the Triple A affiliate of the Detroit Tigers located only 45 minutes south from Comerica Park. The home of the Mud Hens is Fifth Third Field located in the heart of downtown Toledo, OH and only 20 min away from Pacesetter Park. The Inaugural season at the new stadium was in 2002 and was completely renovated in 2005. The team was well recognized by the t.v. star, Jamie Farr (Klinger) on the hit show M*A*S*H. To add to the success of the franchise, the Mud Hens are also coming off a back to back championship from 2005 and 2006. Fifth Third Field has a seating capacity of 10,300 and last year sold out 33 of 72 home games as well as every playoff and championship game. Fifth Third Field’s playing surface consists of Kentucky bluegrass- Rye mix and the skin portion is made of 65% sand and 35% clay/silt.
On game days Interns will be assisting staff in all routine maintenance which will include but not limited to: mowing outfield and infield, raking warning tracks, assist head grounds keeper with all infield skin maintenance, patching bullpen mounds and home plates, edging of all turf areas, tarping, cleaning dugouts and setting up batting practice.
On non game day’s interns will get acquainted with: Aerifying and collecting of cores, top dressing, rebuilding of mounds, infield skin.
